Adding to the 'Station Eleven' feel of present life shops are closing one by one. This week saw the closure of mine. So with no reason to go outside this lost twenty-something will be in lockdown for the foreseeable future. If you have freelance work to chuck my way please do! In the meantime I'll be working on a secret project and staying sugared thanks to this awesome Cornish care package from @abigibby2 and @blubear_colliedog ❤️🤗.
And so begins the reign of the introverts. About bloody time 🥳. It's going to be an odd weekend for many with pubs, cafes, and restaurants such a huge part of people's social calendar. But don't forget there are still so many indie businesses open for takeaway that could use your support if you have the means. (Laughing a bit at extroverts already struggling to cope though. Lockdown hasn't even begun, lads!)
Sunshine on Leith indeed. Regardless of the mad rollercoaster my time in the north has become there's not been a single day I've regretted moving here. We'll weather this storm and afterwards the sun will shine out all the brighter (pretty sure that's from Lord of the Rings...😂). Stay beautiful Edinburgh.
I got out the flat today, paddled in the sea (yup, in Scotland!), and got swarmed by a pack of dogs. One little old pup wouldn't catch up with his pack so I had to carry him back! While we were ever vigilant of our distance to other people it was fabulous for our mental health to be out breathing fresh sea air. Remember there is a world outside of this virus, the sun still shines, and social distancing doesn't have to mean spending all day indoors. (Having said that, if you feel more comfortable indoors, that's valid too. We all handle everything differently, but please remember we are all in this together.)
Getting increasingly anxious about the current situation. Not the virus but the knock on effect the virus will have. I'm stressed we'll go into lockdown before Friday (pay day) and I won't have been able to get a proper grocery shop. Scared of going to work but also scared of losing my job as I'm still in my probation period (surely if lockdown happened they'd just get rid of me. Makes more financial sense for them 🤷🏼‍♀️). I'm worried the jobs I'm applying for, and desperately need financially, will pull the roles due to the economy. Scared of the selfishness that's showing itself in so many. People buying up all the medicine friends of mine NEED to survive. I do know, however, that all will be fine in the end. People adapt, it's how we made this far. Worst comes to worst I'll have to just eat plain rice and frozen veg for the last week of lockdown. It's all first world problems, really. Have a nice Leith sunset.
